Westchester Man Accused of Raping Developmentally Disabled Supermarket Worker: DA

A Westchester man is accused of raping a developmentally disabled woman he met while she was working as a grocery bagger at a supermarket, authorities say.

Fitton Telesford of New Rochelle has been arraigned on multiple rape and criminal sex act charges in the Feb. 7 incident, according to the Westchester district attorney's office.

Prosecutors said Telesford approached the 39-year-old victim, who is physically and developmentally disabled, while she was working inside a Shop-Rite store in New Rochelle.

During the victim's lunch break, Telesford approached her and told her he would take her out for pizza.

Once she was in his car, Telesford allegedly drove her to an indoor shopping center parking lot nearby, ordered her to get in the backseat of the car, and then raped and sexually assaulted her, prosecutors said.

He then drove the victim back to the supermarket, where she reported the attack. New Rochelle police investigated, and DNA evidence identified Telesford as the suspect, prosecutors said.

He was arrested May 4, and was remanded to Westchester County Jail until his arraignment Tuesday.

He's next expected to appear in court Sept. 1. Attorney information wasn't immediately clear.
