Building Super Found Buried in Shallow Grave, Wrapped in Plastic Bags: NYPD

The body of a man was found by a police dog, buried in a shallow grave and wrapped in plastic bags in Brooklyn, police say.

Officials say the body, that of a 41-year-old building superintendent, was found Friday around 4 p.m. in Bushwick when cops got an anonymous tip about a body buried in the backyard of a building on Himrod Street, according to the NYPD.

The name of the man hasn’t been made public. The city medical examiner's Office said the victim's cause of death was inconclusive, pending additional tests.

A Vermont woman staying next door to where the body was found said she watched from her window as it turned into a crime scene.

"We had noticed police were looking around the night before," said Victoria Krushnick. "The next morning there were like 15 detectives in the yard. We tried to figure out what was going on."

Police say the dead superintendent apparently has no family in the area. Investigators say that a former super -- who the victim replaced -- is considered a person of interest in the case.

They would not speculate about a possible motive, or how the victim ended up a few hundred yards where he lived and worked.
