Authorities are investigating the deaths of two New York City infants -- one in Queens, one on Staten Island -- within a 24-hour period.
Osbert Shi, a 3-month-old boy from College Point, died after being found unresponsive in his crib shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Jacob Mendez, a 4-mont-old boy from St. George, died after being found unconscious in his apartment shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Neither infant had any obvious signs of trauma or any known health issues, police say. Authorities are awaiting information from the medical examiner on the cause of death for each child. No arrests have been made.
