70-Year-Old Deacon Stabbed to Death in Halfway House: Police

A 70-year-old deacon was stabbed to death in a halfway house where he lived and helped serve others, police said Saturday.

Patrick Logsdon, the program manager of Anthony House in Roosevelt, was found dead with multiple stab wounds late Friday, Nassau County police said.

Police identified the suspect as 47-year-old Andre Patton, who also lived at the halfway house on East Roosevelt Avenue. They said he has not been apprehended and is considered armed and dangerous.

Patton was one of three people living at the home at the time, police said.

The halfway house helps those who struggle with drug addiction or homelessness. It is run by St. Vincent de Paul of the Diocese of Rockville Center.
