L.I. Day Care Sued for Negligence After Allegedly Leaving Tot in Park

State park police said Alexia Karimi, 2, was left behind at Heckscher State Park in East Islip during an outing with Our Little Darlings Early Educational Center

A Long Island day care center has been sued for negligence for allegedly leaving a 2-year-old girl in a park following a day outing.

The lawsuit was filed against the Bay Shore-based Our Little Darlings Early Educational Center and its owners.

Newsday reports the suit was filed by the girl's mother, Christina Karimi.

The lawsuit says the day care owners were "careless, reckless and negligent.''

It says the owners weren't aware the girl was missing for several hours after the day care had spent a day at Heckscher State Park in East Slip on Aug. 14.

The child was not harmed. State authorities revoked the day care's license last week pending the outcome of an investigation.

Newsday says the day care owners could not be reached for comment on the lawsuit. They previously declined comment when the license was revoked.
