A New Jersey day care center and middle school were evacuated "out of an abundance of caution" Monday after a gas main in the area was struck during construction work, authorities said.
Mount Olive Mayor Rob Greenbaum told NBC 4 New York the main was hit on Wolf Road. Nearby Middle School 7 and the Mount Olive Child Care Learning Center were evacuated; the middle school students were taken to the high school and the day care children were taking to Mount Olive Township Council chambers, where their parents could pick them up.
Greenbaum says no injuries were reported.
Crews responded to the gas leak and contained it.
