DWI Arrest in LI Crash, Baby and Pregnant Woman Seriously Injured

Authorities allege Escobar lost control on a turn, crossed a median, went airborne and crashed into the back of a 7-Eleven store

A Long Island man has been arrested on a DWI charge after a crash that seriously injured his pregnant girlfriend and 10-month-old daughter.

Suffolk County Police announced the charge Friday against Jose Escobar of Westbury.
 
The crash occurred Thursday night in Brentwood.
 
Authorities allege Escobar, 29, lost control of his 2003 Nissan on a turn, crossed a median, went airborne and crashed into the back of a 7-Eleven store.
 
His girlfriend was airlifted by police helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center and his daughter was taken to Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York. 
 
Escobar was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The name of his attorney was not immediately available.
