Derailed train is still in the tunnel

A southbound D express train derailed Friday at the 81st Street-Museum of Natural History Station, causing delays on several trains in both directions, the MTA said.

As of 5:10 p.m., there was no service on the C trains the entire line.

Far Rockaway/Lefferts Boulevard-bound A and Coney Island-bound D trains were running local from the 125th Street Station to the 59th Street-Columbus Circle Station.

The MTA said delays were experienced on the A, B, D, and F trains.

The incident happened around 1:05 p.m. on Friday.  MTA officials said about 300 people on the train were stuck for about an hour.

The cause of the derailment is not yet known.
