Customer Shot, Killed After Intervening in Argument at NJ Deli: Prosecutors

A man was shot and killed when he tried to intervene in an argument inside a deli in Jersey City early Saturday, prosecutors said.

Darren Talington, 25, was shot multiple times at the A+ Deli after getting in a fight with a man who pushed a woman inside the restaurant, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors say that Talington went to the deli to get some food and saw the man push the woman when he got there. He tried to stop the man and the two went outside to fight.

Then, another man approached and fired several shots, authorities say.

When officers arrived on scene, Talington had several gunshot wounds to his body and legs. He was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at (201) 915-1345.
