New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says former Vice President Joe Biden makes the "best case" to be president of all the Democrats considered potential 2020 candidates.

The Democratic governor said Wednesday on WAMC radio that the former vice president demonstrates the credibility that any Democrat must show to win the presidency. Cuomo predicted a "big field" of Democratic primary candidates.

Cuomo and Biden are long-time friends and allies. Biden has not announced any plans to run but is one of many in his party believed to be considering a campaign.

Cuomo began his third term on Tuesday. He had been considered a potential presidential contender but has ruled out the idea. When asked if he would serve as Biden's running mate, Cuomo said he's focused on leading the state.
