Car Crashes Into Home, Killing Driver

Two passengers injured

A Long Island family got an alarming wake up call early Wednesday morning.

Police say a speeding driver was killed after crashing his car into the Garden City Park home just after 2 a.m.

The front end of the 1997 Infinity landed the basement.

The driver died at the scene and police are withholding his name while they notify the family. Two other people inside the vehicle were critically injured and are being treated at Winthrop Hospital.

The two residents, a 48-year-old man and his 72-year-old mother, were on the second floor during the crash and were not harmed.

Building officials are working to determine if the home is structurally sound. Police have impounded the vehicle and are investigating.
