    The Grucci family is known for their fireworks shows, but early this morning they showed a different kind of boom.

    Joseph Grucci is the uncle of Felix Grucci Jr., the former Republican congressman and an executive with Fireworks by Grucci.  He was arrested after he shot his 20-year-old grandson during a dispute in Bellport early this morning, Suffolk County Police said.

    Officers responded to the Grucci home after a 911 caller reported a disputend possible gunshots being fired at approximately 3 a.m. When police arrived, Grucci, 70, told police he had a fight with his grandson, Christopher Giresi, over noise.  During the dispute, Grucci shot Giresi twice with a shotgun.

    Giresi was transported by a private vehicle to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. He suffered injuries to his torso and arm and was listed in stable condition. 

    Fifth Squad detectives charged Grucci with Assault in the 1st Degree. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today.
