Eight cows in Ramapo, New York, escaped from a farm and ended up roaming on a road early Thursday morning, police said.
Officers received a call that the escaped bovine were wondering on Saddle River Road near the Ascension Cemetery at about 3 a.m., authorities said.
Police said the cows were on a very dark stretch of the road, and feared they would pose a risk to drivers.
The officers were able to corral the cows off the road and turned them over to a farmhand at a nearby farm where they had escaped at about 3:45 a.m.
No injuries were reported, police said.
