Thief Stuffs Fur Coats Under Jacket While Woman Acts as Lookout: Police

Police are looking for a man they say was captured on surveillance video stealing fur coats by stuffing them underneath his jacket while he and his accomplice pretended to shop inside high-end stores on Madison Avenue.

The suspects, a man and a woman, first walked into the Loro Piana Fur store at 748 Madison Ave. on the Upper East Side the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 8, and pretended to look at coats, according to police. The woman blocked the man from the view of employees as he took a coat from the rack and put in underneath his jacket.

The two then fled the store.

The same thing happened at the J. Mendel Sable store at 787 Madison Ave. the afternoon of Thursday, Nov. 13, which was captured on security video.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
