Couple Burglarized 2 Days Before Christmas Gets Surprise Gift

A couple in New Jersey came home Wednesday to discover their house had been burglarized and among the items stolen was a new television they had purchased as a Christmas present to themselves.

According to police, the burglar wore gloves he or she broke into the Johansen home on Kuhn Street in Saddle Brook, taking jewelry and a laptop along with the television.

"Everything was in shambles, they went through the dresser, went through the desk, knocked everything over," said Susan Johansen. "They took a brand new TV we had scheduled to go in our bedroom, all I had to do was get the cable box, and I was just like really?"

But after the story was reported, the Johansens received an unexpected Christmas present Thursday. A person who asked to remain anonymous gave them a new television, replacing the one that had been stolen.

"I just thought that was amazing," said Johansen. "This really feels like Christmas."

Police say there have been several recent burglaries in the neighborhood. They're investigating whether they are connected and are asking residents to make sure their doors are locked.
