Mayor Booker to Speak at Democratic Convention Tuesday

The Newark politician is co-chairman of the national Democratic Party's platform committee

Newark Mayor Cory Booker is scheduled to deliver his highest profile national speech to date.

He's scheduled to speak Tuesday evening at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

Booker is co-chairman of the national Democratic Party's platform committee, and has been campaigning for Obama across the country in recent weeks.

Speculation has been swirling that Booker, in his second term as the mayor of New Jersey's largest city, is planning to run for governor against Chris Christie, or for a New Jersey U.S. Senate seat.

Booker has been speaking to other delegations at the convention ahead of his main remarks Tuesday, which are expected to focus on the Democratic party's platform.
