Cortlandt Street Downtown Subway Platform Open Again

A subway platform seriously damaged by the Sept. 11 attacks has re-opened in time for the 10th anniversary.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced Tuesday that the downtown side of the R train station at Cortlandt Street was once again operational.

The station was closed for a year after the attack. It was then in service from September 2002 until August 2005 when it was closed for construction going on in the area.

The uptown side of the station had been re-opened in November 2009.
