    Inspiring Stories of Hope
Cops retraced the final fatal steps of a slain NYPD officer last night.

New York  cops shot two people in separate incidents in Brooklyn last night, and one is dead.

Police say an officer responding to a 911 call about a burglary in Flatlands was shot at by a man with a gun late Monday. A police sergeant shot the man once in the leg. Police say witnesses reported the man then ran into the street and shot himself in the head.

In the other incident, officers responded to an emergency call about a disturbed person in an apartment east of Prospect Park. Police say they found a 31-year-old woman there yielding a knife.

Police say pepper spray had no effect on her, so an officer shot her in the torso. She's hospitalized in stable condition.

Police haven't identified either person who was shot.
