Cops Mourn Officer Killed by Alleged Drunken Driver

Thousands of police officers have gathered in a small Long Island community to pay final tribute to one of their own.

Officer Glen Ciano was killed Sunday when a car operated by an alleged drunken driver collided with his police car in Commack. The impact sent the 45-year-old officer's car into a traffic pole, where it burst into flames.

On Thursday, mourners filled the street and packed Our Lady of the Snow R.C. Church in Blue Point for the funeral Mass. The hearse was led by the Suffolk County Pipes and Drums Emerald Society. And "Amazing Grace" echoed through the church and through speakers outside.

A 23-year-old man from Plainview, N.Y., has been charged with drunken driving.
