Police are looking for the man believed to have made off with an unknown amount of money after robbing a bank in Nassau County Thursday morning.
Detectives say an unknown man entered the Bank of America on Hempstead Turnpike (incidentally, the region's most dangerous road -- apparently not just for pedestrians) in Levittown just after 9:15 a.m.
The suspect handed the teller a demand note and then fled through a rear door with an unknown amount of cash, authorities said. It wasn't clear which way he ran.
Five employees and two customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery, but no injuries were reported, officials said.
Surveillance video captured the robbery on tape. The suspect appears to be a white man about 6 feet tall wiht a medium build and a goatee. He was wearing a black peacoat and a tan knit cap with a brim.
Detectives ask anyone with information about the robbery to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
