NJ Considering Ban on “Conversion Therapy”

It promises to be an emotional hearing when New Jersey lawmakers hear testimony on a bill that would ban "conversion therapy," a widely derided practice intended to make gay people straight.

Activist Troy Stevenson says he's going to tell a state Senate committee Monday about someone he knew who had been to a camp intended to make him heterosexual who later killed himself.

Several gay rights groups and organizations set up to help young gay people also plan testimony.

The conservative New Jersey Family Policy Council says a ban would interfere with parents' rights.

California banned the therapy last year.
