Times Square Construction Worker Injured in Fall

Fire officials said concrete apparently fell on the man from a building under construction

A construction worker is in stable condition after falling into a pit and breaking his leg while working in New York City's Times Square.

The 29-year-old worker and three other people suffering from minor injures were taken to Bellevue Hospital after the accident Thursday morning in rainy, slippery weather.

Fire officials said concrete apparently fell on the man from a building under construction, but it wasn't clear where he was working when he was injured.

Fire officials said the concrete fell from a 35-story office tower under construction at 11 Times Square, at 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue.

Deputy Fire Chief Steve Morelli said the pit was murky with a lot of mud and water that made for a difficult rescue.

The pit is apparently going to be an entrance to a subway.

The worker's name wasn't released.
