Schools in New Jersey, Connecticut to Dismiss Early Amid Tri-State Heat Wave

Some schools in New Jersey and Connecticut are closing early Wednesday amid the record-breaking heat wave that has swept across the tri-state this week.

Students at schools in Clifton, New Jersey, will be heading home early as temperatures climb above 90 degrees, the district announced. Other districts in southern New Jersey also announced early dismissals.

The district joins dozens of others across Connecticut in dismissing classes early because of the heat. Public schools in Bridgeport and Stamford will dismiss early for the second straight day Wednesday, along with several others north and east of Fairfield County.

Several school districts in Fairfield County said that more favorable conditions will let them stay open all day after early closures Tuesday.
