6 Busted With 100 Pounds of Cocaine in Times Square

Several alleged drug traffickers who met at a busy Times Square hotel as part of an operation to move more than 100 pounds of cocaine have been indicted, authorities said Monday.

State police investigators were watching the men on Oct. 25 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Broadway as part of an ongoing investigation, according to the city Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor.

That evening, two of the defendants left the hotel, each carrying several pounds of cocaine in suitcases, authorities said. They were both arrested in Midtown, along with a third man who was acting as a driver.

A fourth man was arrested in a concourse area of the hotel, allegedly carrying a suitcase with 66 pounds of cocaine.

Two more suspects were found inside a hotel room, where investigators found plane tickets, cell phones and plastic wrapping used to cover kilos of drugs.

The suspects had traveled to New York City from Puerto Rico.
