It Could Be 70 Degrees on Christmas Eve in New York City

The warm-up should begin Monday, with highs hitting the mid 50s amid cloudy skies. Temperatures will flirt with the 60-degree mark on Tuesday and Wednesday, and a few showers are possible on each day.

Showers are likely Thursday, when temperatures will hit their high-water mark. The record for the day in New York City is 63 degrees; the mercury could hit 70 on Thursday. Showers are also likely on Thursday.

Christmas day will be a bit cooler, but still well above seasonal averages. A slight cool-down is expected beginning Saturday, when temperatures drop to the mid 50s.
