Christie Campaign Releases Income Tax Info

Another New Jersey gubernatorial candidate has released his income tax information.

Information made public Friday by Republican Chris Christie's campaign shows he and his wife earned nearly $449,000 in 2008 -- up from about $373,000 in 2007. They paid nearly $119,000 in federal income tax and more than $24,000 to the state.

Christie stepped down as U.S. Attorney for New Jersey in December.

The couple has filed for a tax extension, giving them until later this year to file their returns.

Christie's disclosure came two days after Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine provided his earnings information. Corzine said his adjusted gross income was minus $2.75 million in 2008, mostly due to declines in investments.

In a related matter, Christie said financial disclosure reports required of statewide candidates should match federal reports by requiring more detailed information.
