Child Left Home Alone Falls From Fire Escape: NYPD

Police say a 4-year-old girl who had been left home alone in a Queens apartment fell from a second-floor fire escape Sunday, sustaining minor injuries.

The girl's mother, Yasmine Robert, 34, allegedly left her child alone in their Hollis apartment while she went to run an errand. The child climbed out a window onto a fire escape and fell, police said.

The child was taken to the hospital and treated for minor scratches to the knee, chin and lip, according to authorities.

Police charged Robert with acting in a manner injurious to a child. It was not immediately clear if she had a lawyer.

A spokesman for the city's Administration for Children's Services said the organization is aware of the girl's fall and is investigating.
