MTA Bus Hits 90-Year-Old Woman in Lower Manhattan: NYPD

An MTA bus hit and critically injured a pedestrian in lower Manhattan Wednesday evening, authorities say.

The FDNY said the MTA X-14 bus was making a turn onto Water Street from Fulton Street at about 6:15 p.m. when it hit the 90-year-old woman.

"It was pretty traumatic," said one witness. "We saw the person get a blanket put over them. She wasn't moving, so we didn't know if she was dead or alive."

Law enforcement sources initially said the woman was fatally struck by the bus but police have since clarified to say she survived and was in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital.

The bus driver remained on the scene. Police are investigating.
