Chain-Reaction Crash Snarls Traffic on I-95 in New York: Police

Several people were injured and traffic was snarled for hours after a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 95’s northbound lanes in New Rochelle, police say.

At least three vehicles including a tractor-trailer collided on the highway near mile marker 5.5 at about 2 a.m., police say. It’s not yet clear what caused the crash.

Several people had minor injuries, police say.

Only one of the interstate’s northbound lanes was open at about 5:30 a.m. and traffic backups stretched for several miles.

Crews are currently working to clear the scene, but it’s not clear when the other lanes will reopen.
