Cat Torturer Faces Up to Four Years in Prison

A 22-year-old Albany man admits drowning a cat in his bathtub and torturing two other cats.

Caleb Capen faces one to four years in prison after pleading guilty Friday to felony animal cruelty. He was arrested in February after a police officer found a dead cat burning inside paper and plastic bags in a snowbank.

Police talked to Capen, who was nearby, and then followed him to his home where they found two more cats with broken bones from abuse.

Capen told police he had adopted a cat named Prince Trouble several days earlier, but it didn't get along with the other cats. He admitted he stepped on the cat, squeezed it, struck it with a wrench, then drowned it.

He'll be sentenced in September.
