Westchester Police Searching for Suspect Who Tossed Drugs During Car Chase

Authorities are combing the woods in Westchester County for a suspect who led police on a two-state chase Wednesday night while tossing handfuls of pot and other drugs out of his car window.

An officer in Harrison tried to stop the man driving a red Geo Prism about 6:30 p.m. on Westchester Avenue, police say, but the man didn’t stop. The suspect started throwing bags of marijuana and other drugs out of the car as the chase continued into Greenwich, Conn.

The car chase turned back into New York and finally ended when the man drove down a driveway in Harrison and crashed into a fence, police say.

After the crash, police say the suspect got out and ran into the woods near a golf course. Several officers combed the area and a police helicopter was used in the search.

Harrison Police Chief Anthony Marraccini urged people to stay indoors while officers looked for the suspect Wednesday night.

“We don’t believe he’s in the immediate area, but we’re going to continue our efforts to find the fellow,” he said.
