Dramatic Video: Minivan Crashes into Brooklyn Deli

A minivan nearly mowed down two joggers before it careened into a Brooklyn deli early Wednesday, scattering debris along the sidewalk and prompting a chaotic scene that was caught almost entirely on the store's surveillance video.

Chopper 4 captured images of the damaged vehicle jammed into the Fifth Avenue storefront in Park Slope after the 6 a.m. accident stalled traffic and sent passersby rushing to help.

NBC 4 New York obtained the deli's surveillance video of the moments before and immediately after the crash.

In the video captured by the outdoor camera, two joggers are seen running out of the path of the white minivan just before it careens into the storefront. Another vehicle that may have been sideswiped by the minivan outside the camera's range is seen rolling slowly backward into the frame with damage to its front.

Debris from the vehicles and smashed deli litter the sidewalk. Seconds after the vehicles come to rest, the surveillance cameras show at least half a dozen pedestrians, including the two women who narrowly avoided being hit by the minivan, rushing to help the people in the cars.

Surveillance footage captured inside the deli at the time of the crash show the clerk leaping over the counter and moving in the direction of the front door.

It wasn't clear if anyone was injured in the crash. The accident is under investigation.
