Cancer-Stricken Tiger at NJ Zoo Euthanized

Officials have euthanized a white tiger at a southern New Jersey zoo after two weeks of declining health.

The animal, named Shiva, had marked his 14th birthday at Cohanzick Zoo in Bridgeton on June 22.

Curator Kelly Shaw told The Press of Atlantic City Shiva developed cancer in his lungs, spleen and kidneys.

Shiva and the zoo's other white tiger, Ganesha, were brought to the zoo as cubs from a zoo in Sweden in 1997.

Shaw says Ganesha appears confused since Shiva died.
