Cab Knocks Light Pole Onto Woman and Child in Central Park: NYPD

Two women and a child were injured Sunday when a cab jumped a curb and hit a light pole, causing it to fall into Central Park, police said.

The cab driver told investigators after the 10 a.m. accident that he jumped the curb after swerving to avoid another cab that came into his lane on Fifth Avenue near 84th Street. He hit the pole, which fell into the park where a 41-year-old woman and a child were standing.

The pole hit the woman, but the extent of her injuries was unclear. They had no information about the child. A 47-year-old woman in the cab sustained a head injury.
