Busted! Teens Arrested With 5 Pounds of Pot, Learner's Permits

Two teenage girls were arrested after police pulled them over on the Thruway and found five pounds of marijuana in the truck.

Police pulled 18-year-old Amanda Cacilhas over in Newburgh around 1:30 a.m. Friday because she was driving erratically. Authorities determined she and her 16-year-old passenger Arafat Alshega only had learner's permits and should not have been driving.

After impounding the car, police found about $6,000 worth of marijuana in the trunk. The two Utica residents were charged with criminal possession of marijuana and arraigned in the Town of Newburgh Court.
