Long Island Bus Driver Punched in Face Over Missed Stop: Police

Police are looking for a passenger who assaulted a Long Island bus driver after complaining his stop was missed, authorities say.

The passenger approached the 50-year-old Nassau Inter County Express driver as he was driving an N6 bus on Hempstead Turnpike Sunday evening and complained that the bus missed his stop, police said. The driver stopped the bus at a nearby corner and the suspect sat back down.

Once the bus started moving again, the suspect got up and started arguing with the driver a second time, police say. Again, the driver pulled the bus over. Then the suspect punched the driver in the face, got out of the bus and ran off on Hempstead Turnpike, authorities said.

The driver sustained a cut lip.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the assault to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1 (800)-244-TIPS.
