Burress' Lawyer: Plax Not Involved in 2005 Shooting

A lawyer for Plaxico Burress says the New York Giants' star wide receiver was not involved in a 2005 shooting in the Bronx that led police to impound his borrowed truck.

Burress is scheduled to appear at a civil trial Wednesday in Pennsylvania in a dispute with the dealer over what Burress should pay for damage to the 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche.

Burress had borrowed the truck from the dealer, but attorney Benjamin Brafman says Burress loaned it to a relative before the August 2005 shooting. Brafman says he was told Burress was with the team at a New Jersey hotel when the incident occurred.

Brafman says Burress was not charged.

A Giants spokesman declined to discuss Burress' exact whereabouts at the time of the shooting.
