Frail Yorkie Stolen in Queens Home Burglary, Owner Begs for Return

A Queens woman is begging for the burglar who broke into her home last week to return her dog, which she says is old, blind and frail, and needs his medications.

The woman, who lives on 110th Road in St. Albans, says someone broke into her house last Tuesday and stole three electronic tablets, a laptop, cash and jewelry, along with her 12-year-old Yorkie.

The dog, named Karnack, weighs only five pounds, the owner told NBC 4 New York. He has hearing problems and knee issues, and takes multiple medications.

"He has eye issues, ear issues, he has knee issues. Sometimes his knee pops out and I have to pop it back in," said the owner, who asked not to be named.

The owner was emotional as she described how she had Karnack and another Yorkie from the same litter, Cairo, since they were puppies. The two pups were named after cities in Africa, which she's dreamed about visiting all her life, she said.

Cairo died last year.

The owner says Karnack would never leave the house without her, and doesn't believe he ran out if the burglar or burglars had left the door open.

"I don't want to imagine him in the street because he's not a street dog. He wouldn't last in the street. Cats are bigger than him," Karnack's owner said. "So I'm just afraid of him being outside. He does not have a sweater, he doesn't have a jacket, he does not have any of those things."

A Facebook group for missing dogs, called Find Shadow, is assisting the woman in trying to find Karnack, and has posted a number for any tips: 917-633-7191. The reward is now $1,000 for the safe return of Karnack.

"Please just bring him back, give him to somebody. No questions asked," Karnack's owner said.
