Woman Struck, Killed by Car in Brooklyn: Police

An elderly woman was struck and killed by a car while the driver was attempting to parallel park in Brooklyn Tuesday afternoon, police say. 

The 77-year-old victim, identified as Marlene Baharlias of Brooklyn, was struck by a Mercedes as she was crossing East 19th Street in Sheepshead Bay at about 2:20 p.m., according to authorities.

The driver was trying to parallel park in front of 2060 East 19th St., police say.  

Baharlias was taken to Coney Island Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. 

The driver stayed on the scene and was being questioned by police.
