Brooklyn Mother Arrested After 3 Young Boys Left Home Alone: NYPD

A Brooklyn mother was arrested after allegedly leaving her three young boys home alone for more than half an hour Sunday afternoon, police say.

Firefighters found the children, ages 1, 2 and 4, alone at an apartment in Brownsville after someone in the building called to report that an apartment had flooded, police say.

The children's mother, 25-year-old Jazmine Torres, allegedly didn't show up until 40 minutes after firefighters arrived. Police wouldn’t elaborate on what she was doing while she was away.

The boys weren't hurt in the time they were alone, and they appeared to be in good spirits as they were taken from the home. All three are now in Administration for Children's Services custody.

One neighbor said the 25-year-old woman is a good mother.

“At the end of the day, we don’t know what this woman had to do,” he said.

Torres is charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

It’s not clear if she has an attorney.
