Woman in Wheelchair Among 3 Rescued From Brooklyn Apartment Building Fire: FDNY

Three people were critically injured in the fire

More than 100 firefighters were called to a large fire in a Brooklyn apartment building Wednesday afternoon that critically injured three people, including a woman in a wheelchair, authorities say.

The two-alarm fire started inside a fourth-floor apartment of an eight-story building at 1165 Stanley Ave. in East New York, the FDNY says. The fire was under control within a half-hour.

Firefighters rescued a 50-year-old woman in a wheelchair, along with two other women. All three were taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition.

A fourth resident suffered smoke inhalation and was in serious but stable condition, according to the FDNY.

Officials are investigating what caused the fire.
