Man, 66, Dies in Sheepshead Bay Fire

A 66-year-old man was killed and eight firefighters were hurt in a blaze in Brooklyn early Monday, authorities say.

The man, Shewming Seto, was found on the second floor of the home after firefighters extinguished the blaze early Monday morning.

Firefighters went to the East 29th Street apartment after getting a 911 call.

Firefighters sway the blaze started on the ground floor. Firefighters said that there was a large amount of debris inside th home, which made battling the fire more difficult.

Fire crews searched for several hours after extinguishing the blaze before finding Seto's body. He was pronounced dead at about 4 a.m.

They continued looking for additional victims into Monday morning.

The firefighters who were battling the blaze were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, officials say. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
