Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel Weekend Work

The work will shut down one tube of the tunnel from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Two lanes of the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel will be closed on 21 weekends throughout the next several months, beginning Friday, so that electrical equipment can be replaced.

Motorists are warned to expect delays during these times.

The closures won't be every weekend, and will be spread out throughout this year and next.

The first three weekends will be this weekend, followed by Nov. 18, and then Dec. 2.

The work will shut down one tube, or two lanes, while two-way traffic will continue in the other tube.

The closures will begin at 10 p.m. Friday and end at 5 a.m. Monday.

The $43.5 million project will replace 1950s-era electrical switches and feeder cables.
