Woman Found Stabbed to Death in Vacant Bronx Apartment

Police are searching for a suspect

A woman was found dead with stab wounds inside a vacant apartment in a Bronx building early Wednesday morning, authorities say.

The woman was unconscious and unresponsive, with her pants pulled down to her ankles, when police found her inside the Southern Boulevard building in the Claremont Village section of the Bronx, according to police.

Neighbors identified the victim as a woman named Kathy who lived in the building, although her body was found in a vacant apartment.

She had multiple stab wounds, police said.

Rosanne Delvalle, who's lived in the building for 10 years, said "She was a very good person, I mean, she didn't bother anybody."

As authorities search for a suspect, residents worried about safety in the building, which shares space with rehabilitation and other programs that gives everyone access inside.

"A lot of people getting robbed, in the elevator somebody not too long ago got beat up in the elevator," said resident Mal Elliott. "It's just bad, it's really bad."

Making the investigation more challenging for detectives, there are no cameras inside the building.

Authorities are searching for a suspect.
