Busted! A Bronx woman was arrested for allegedly running an underground clinic for cosmetic breast and buttocks injections from her apartment in Inwood.
Whalesca Castillo, who does not have a medical liscence, is being charged for administering illegal shots of liquid silicone she ordered from the Dominican Republic for almost two years, sometimes charging over $1,000.
"She knew what she was doing was illegal, as she told one of her customer," said FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Janice K. Fedarcyk of Castillo in a statement. "In her thirst for profit, she put lives in peril."
Authorities allege that Castillo, 36, discouraged one patient from getting medical help when she fainted shortly after a procedure. She faces a maximum of three years in prison.
While the FDA has approved liquid silicone and silicone gen for some cosmetic purposes, it had prohibited its use for augmenting tissues in the body for public safey and health reasons.
