Man Follows Tourist from Subway, Rapes Her in Hotel Room: Cops

The woman told police she had a brief conversation with the man on the subway and he later forced his way into her Bronx hotel room

The NYPD is looking for a man who raped a 33-year-old woman visiting New York City in her Bronx hotel room after apparently following her from the subway early Wednesday.

The woman told police she had a brief conversation with the man on the train at East 14th Street and Union Square. She later got off the train in the Bronx and went to her room at the Howard Johnson Express Inn.

She said there was a knock on her door around 4 a.m. When she opened the door, the suspect pushed his way into the room and raped her, police said.

Two women visiting New York from Washington D.C., who were staying in the room next door to the woman, said they saw her speaking with police. She seemed very shaken up and had a black eye, the women told NBC 4 New York.

The two women checked out a night early, they said.

The suspect has a tattoo with the name "Tiffany'' on the inside of his left forearm. He also has a tattoo of a scorpion and the name "Ivan'' on his right shoulder.

He's described as being about 30 years old and was last seen wearing a gray Chicago Bulls hat, white T-shirt and red shorts.

Police released surveillance video of the suspect from the hotel.
