Bronx Man Convicted in 2013 Slaying of Mother and Daughter

A jury found a 28-year-old Bronx man guilty of murder Friday in the 2013 slayings of a mother and daughter who were bludgeoned to death for their bank cards, authorities said.

After two days of deliberation, jurors declared Joshua Lopez guilty of two counts of second-degree murder.

Lopez faces a potential sentence of 50 years to life in prison, the same sentence imposed on two co-defendants in the case, Andrew Scott and Brittny Austin.

The trio were accused of killing Ida Randolph, 55, and her daughter, Jena Randolph, 21, on Oct. 1, 2013, at their Bedford Park apartment after stealing and attempting to use their bank cards.

Police found the bodies of mother and daughter, bound with duct tape, in separate bedrooms in their apartment on Valentine Avenue.

Scott, Jena Randolph's former boyfriend, stabbed her repeatedly with a kitchen knife and then beat her to death, investigators said. Ida Randolph was bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat.

Lopez attempted to use the women's bank cards to retrieve cash and managed to withdraw $200 from Ida Randolph's account, prosecutors said. Surveillance video shows Lopez using the bank cards.
