1 Killed in Double Shooting, Ambulance Driver Crashes en Route

One person was killed in a double shooting in the Bronx, and an ambulance driver was critically hurt when he crashed on his way there

Two people were shot in the Bronx Thursday night -- one fatally -- and an ambulance driver was critically injured when he crashed on his way to the scene, authorities said. 

Authorities said gunshots were fired at East 167th Street and Bryant Avenue, near Hunts Point, at about 6:15 p.m.

The man who died was shot in the face. Another man was shot in the hip and is listed in good condition. Both were taken to Lincoln Hospital. 

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, including an ambulance driver who crashed near Southern Boulevard and Barretto Street.

The driver was also taken to Lincoln Hospital and is listed in critical condition, FDNY officials said. The EMTs in the ambulance sustained minor injuries.

The circumstances of the shootings were not immediately clear.
