Arrest Made in Beating Death of Bronx Bodega Worker

Omar Cepeda, 27, was charged with murder and manslaughter in connection with the June 24 incident

Police arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the beating death of a Bronx bodega worker last month.

Omar Cepeda, of the Bronx, was taken into custody Thursday and charged with murder and manslaughter. Information on an attorney wasn't available.

Police had been looking for Cepeda since the June 24 attack. Authorities say Cepeda allegedly walked into the Hot Millions Bodega on Sound View Avenue that evening and assaulted 35-year-old employee Souvann Hunter.

Police later found Hunter with a severe head injury. The New Rochelle man was taken to Jacobi Hospital, but died the next morning from his injuries.

Motivation for the alleged attack was not clear.
