Man Arrested in Stabbing Death of Blind Woman, 49, Who Was Thrown Off Roof: Cops

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 49-year-old blind woman who was stabbed to death and thrown off the roof of her Bronx building.

Investigators say the suspect has told police he and the woman were acquaintances and were getting high together in her second-floor apartment when she "freaked" out. He stabbed her to death in the bathroom and took her body to the roof, where he threw her off, he reportedly told police.

The super of an adjoining building on Courtlandt Avenue in Melrose discovered the woman, who was naked, in the courtyard shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and had been stabbed multiple times in the stomach, police said.

Authorities found blood in the woman's bathroom, police sources told NBC 4 New York.

A bodega worker at a nearby store told NBC 4 New York the woman was a regular customer.

One neighbor said she helped the blind woman walk to the corner store on occasion.

"She was a nice lady ... this is so sad," said Chanetta Jackson.

The investigation is ongoing.
